Tanker Safety Conference
17/11/2011 - 18/11/2011
Piracy, vetting, emergency preparedness as well as human factors and training are just a selection of the topics that will fall under the spotlight at Riviera Maritime Media's Tanker Safety Conference, November 17 - 18, London. The event was founded in 2009 and has quickly earned reputation as the place where the tanker industry goes to discuss and set the safety agenda. It has grown year-on-year, and in 2010 drew 144 attendees, including 45 shipowners from 26 difference countries. Its official industry backers include Intertanko, Intermanager, IUMI and ITOPF.
Human Factors in Ship Design
16/11/2011 - 17/11/2011
The work of naval architects and marine engineers directly influences the operability and safety of the vessel and the wellbeing of the seafarer. Design decisions can influence human behaviour. An improved understanding of ergonomics by engineers can ‘design out’ hazards and prevent pollution incidents. The shortage of seafarers can be mitigated by design for improved habitability and better operation with lean manning.

This event will focus on maximising customer care to enhance revenue generation.
Shipping & Offshore CSR Forum
The need for increased CSR activities by companies is not just mandated by a growing regulatory trend. Market forces also push to this direction as charterers increasingly demand their business partners to adopt and implement CSR policies of their own. A consistent CSR commitment and track record can become a differentiating factor and a competitive advantage from an operational and commercial point of view. It can also impact the valuation and cost of capital for listed companies as investors may perceive them as safer and more sustainable investment choices.
