Basics of a Quality Management System according to ISO 9001:2008 for Shipping Companies DNV GL’s Maritime Academy Hellas is offering on 15 July 2014, a one-day course that provides basic information about the requirements of the standard ISO 9001 and discusses methods of implementation of a quality management system in shipping companies and on board its ships. It compares the requirements of ISO 9001 with the ISM Code and identifies synergies with an existing Safety Management System. Managers, Designated Persons, quality representations and superintendents learn how to integrate a quality management system into an existing Safety Management System according to the ISM Code. The most important paragraphs of ISO 9001:2008 containing requirements are analysed and methods of implementation in the shore based company and on board are discussed. The main tasks necessary to implement a quality management system are emphasized by group work and exercises. Further information about the certification process completes this practical workshop. |
