Mission to Seafarers named official charity partner at 2018 Limassol Marathon

The organisers of the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO have announced the Mission to Seafarers as an official charity partner at this year's event, which takes place on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March.

The Mission to Seafarers is a UK-based charity operating in over 200 ports across 50 countries, providing help and emergency assistance to seafarers in times of need. Funded entirely by voluntary donations, the Mission hopes to raise valuable funds that will go towards running their seafarers' centre and chaplaincy in Cyprus, which offer practical and emotional support to men and women of all nationalities, cultures and faiths.

The event is open to runners of all ages and abilities, with a number of different races to choose from. Races include the AIMS-accredited OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, the Limassol Half Marathon, the Petrolina 10K Energy Race, the 5K City Race and the PrimeTel 5K Corporate Race. The corporate race is particularly suited to businesses and employees looking for an excellent team-building and fitness-boosting opportunity.

The Mission to Seafarers is offering a special race package, designed to offer a great-value and hassle-free experience. The package costs €450 (€400 for non-runners) and includes three nights' accommodation in a 4-star hotel, race entry, transportation to the start line, pasta party pass, official race t-shirt, race pack delivery to the hotel, and transfer to and from the airport.
The Limassol Marathon attracts runners and non-runners from all over the world, who come to raise money for their chosen charity and enjoy the stunning natural scenery. The race is known for being flat and fast, covering long stretches of road, including the spectacular coastal road of greater Limassol.

Jan Webber, Director of Development for the Mission to Seafarers, said:

"We are enormously grateful to be selected as an official charity partner of the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO. We could not provide the valuable support to seafarers in Cyprus and across the globe without the very generous support of our donors. This is a great opportunity to network with others from the industry, enjoy a wonderful country and help us to continue to assist seafarers of all nationalities by registering for the race."

Andreas Spyrou, Race Director for OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, said:

"It is with great pleasure that we announce our cooperation with The Mission to Seafarers for the 2018 OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO. As an official charity for the event, we hope that many runners will choose to fundraise for this extremely worthy cause and help to support its local and worldwide efforts.

"With so many race distances to choose from, the event welcomes runners of all abilities wanting to fundraise and make a difference. With this in mind, we have put together a special race weekend package for The Mission to Seafarers fundraisers to make their race experience the very best it can be, and look forward to welcoming as many runners as possible to the event next spring!"
