Partners to test Bio-Fuel oil on offshore decommissioning project
 
Heavy lift shipping and offshore transportation and installation contractor Jumbo, and marine biofuel company GoodFuels, announced a joint initiative to test marine Bio-Fuel Oil on an offshore decommissioning project. The partnership paves the way for a fossil fuel to renewable energy transition in the offshore support sector.

US announces funds to improve passenger ferry service
 
The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced around $32.8 million in project selections to improve the safety and reliability of America’s passenger ferries and enhance mobility for ferry users across the United States. Nine projects in nine states will receive funding from FTA’s Passenger Ferry Grant Program.

Yamal LNG reaches 20 million tons of LNG produced
 
Yamal LNG has shipped its twentieth million ton of LNG since the commencement of the project. Namely, the new Arc7 ice-class tanker “Vladimir Voronin” loaded the 273rd cargo as the project reached 20 million tons of LNG produced since the start-up of Train 1 in December 2017.

SHIPLYS (Ship life cycle software solutions) is a three-year project that began in September 2016. The project is in response to needs of SME naval architects, shipbuilders and ship-owners, who need to improve their capability to reduce the time and costs of design and production.

Pirates abduct 8 after boarding vessel at Cameroon anchorage
 
As MC-Schiffahrt informed, its vessel MarMalaita was attacked by pirates on 14th of August between 23.00h and 24.00h local time on the anchorage of Douala / Cameroon. A group of pirates boarded the ship and abducted 8 of the 12 crewmembers.

​Hurtigruten to launch three hybrid cruise ships
 
Hurtigruten announced that three of its vessels will be transformed to premium, hybrid powered expedition cruise ships. Retrofitted with battery packs and other green technology, the three ships will operate year-round expedition cruises along the Norwegian coast from 2021.

Grace 1 leaves Gibraltar
 
The Grace 1, the Iranian VLCC that was seized by British armed forces off Gibraltar on July 4, has now departed the UK sovereign territory on August 19, heading east across the Mediterranean. The vessel was part of a diplomatic issue, as it was accused of transporting oil for Syria.
