Rolls-Royce publishes vision of unmanned shipping |

The Rolls-Royce led Advanced Autonomous Waterborne Applications Initiative (AAWA)has published a whitepaper to coincide with its presentations at the Autonomous Ship Technology Symposium 2016 in Amsterdam. The whitepaper outlines the Project’s vision of how remote and autonomous shipping will become a reality.

Rotterdam implements paperless container transfers |

Port of Roterdam says that no longer physical Customs document is required to transfer containers from one Maasvlakte terminal to the other. The participating terminals APMT, ECT and RWG have made agreements with the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration 0n ‘paperless transfer’ system which considerably reduces the administrative workload – particularly for shipping lines. The initiative simplifies the exchange of containers between terminals.

ABB opes its first Integrated Operations Center in Asia |

ABB is opening a new integrated Operations Center in Singapore, the third facility of its type, which will allow the company’s expert engineers to follow the sun across the globe. Typically, at the end of the working day, the Singapore Center will handover to colleagues in Norway and Finland and this process will continue across the globe when a new Integrated Operations Center is opened in the US later this year.
