Port of Rotterdam has become a sustainable Bio Port

Focus on biofuels, bioenergy and biobased chemicals

Port of Rotterdam foresees a great future for biofuels, bioenergy and biobased chemicals. Rotterdam consists of more than 45 chemical companies, 5 oil refineries and several power plants. The port and it's hinterland form a world-class (petro)chemical cluster. The port also houses 10 production companies using renewables as their feedstock.

Building on the strength of the existing port and industrial cluster, the biobased industry is the way of the future in the Port of Rotterdam.

For this , Port of Rotterdam has also allocated 80 ha to accommodate biobased companies in the plans for the second Maasvlakte.
